Excerpt from Stanislaw's letter dated October 5, 2001:
"The wedding and reception took place in Szczecin on August 25, 2001. It was a fireman-style wedding, which means that I took an oath dressed in a fire-fighter's dress uniform. Upon leaving the Church, we passed through a lane formed by my work associates. Subsequently, we were lifted 30 feet up in the air in a basket of a fire-ladder. This was a symbolic honeymoon trip and at the same time a "test" for Karolina, who was now also joining the Firefighters' Guild. Then, the District Commander of the National Fire Brigade acknowledged Karolina as "A Fireman's Wife" by tapping her on the shoulder with a hatchet".
