Bronisława Wajszczuk (0377) nee Sokołowska

Bronisława (Bernice) was born in 1923, most likely in the southern suburb of Zamoœć (on Lipska street or in the nearby village) - "on the other side of town from Sitaniec". She remembers coming to and playing with her friends in the main City Square near the City Hall - "it was not too far from their house". During the war, in September 1942 while attending a church service, she and several others were rounded up by the Germans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%81apanka) and deported to Germany as forced laborers. Her family stayed behind but they were later expelled from their house. She was sent to the area of Harzburg in the Hartz Mountains, where she worked in the armament factory and at the production of aerial bombs. After the war she was granted a visa and arrived in Canada on January 20,1949. She lived initially in Walkerton, Ontario and in 1950 moved to Brantford, where she met and then married Lucjan (see).
