... (In 1939) there were seven teachers. The occupying (Nazi) authorities liquidated all societies, associations, newspapers. They were destroying the libraries, teaching tools and the previously collected didactic materials. ... The Germans burned most of the didactic aids. The authorities allowed the resumption of teaching in the School #2 on January 9, 1940. ... The children attended on an irregular basis. The reasons were various: lack of heating fuel, occupation of the premises by the military, epidemics of typhoid fever or measles, (the school activities were suspended from November 1941 until 1942), arrests of the teachers. The teaching sessions were held in various private locations all over the town. ... In 1940, the female teachers whose husbands also worked in education, were fired - among others the wife of the then headmaster J. Cetnarski - Mrs. S. Cetnarska. After their release from official jobs, the Ladies: Cetnarska, Klor, Pypec and Wajszczuk initiated clandestine teaching sessions. ...
... Mr. S. Dyl - a teacher in the School #2, a participant of the September 1939 military campaign and a member of the clandestine resistance movement - became a victim of mass arrests. He was arrested in June 1941 and died in Dachau (Concentration Camp) in March 1942. Mr. J Pypec, a participant of the September 1939 military campaign and of the underground resistance movement died in the Auschwitz (Oswiecim) Concentration Camp in May 1941.
