While looking for records regarding the immigration to the
USA of Franciszek Wajszczuk (0234) and while reviewing the Ellis Island
      records (www.ellisisland.org), we
came across some information about a Franciszek Waszczuk, which is
presented below. These are copies of pages from the shipping company
passenger books and records gathered by the Ellis Island Foundation. They
are not the official immigration records.

Transcription from the passenger book of the ship "Rhein", travelling from
Bremen (Germany) to New York (Ellis Island), date of arrival - March 26,
      1910.

Note: contemporary map of Poland shows a place
Kopczany (see below), near Suwałki and near the border with Belarus,
north-west from the town of Grodno. This is an insignificant difference in
spelling of the name of this place in the ship book.

A few years ago we received an e-mail from Marianna Masiejczyk. She
belongs to a Waszczuk family, whose members still live in Kopczany,
Suwalki county. Details of information about Franciszek obtained from her
agreed fully with the ship's records - therefore the information, which we
have gathered previosly, did not describe "our" Franciszek.
