(Fragment of an e-mail from Włodzimierz Bieguński from Siedlce:
“There is one more family story – interesting, but equally tragic. In a
picture placed on the Tree (see picture) is shown my grandmother Joanna
nee Dobraczyńska (BG006) with her cousin (daughter of one of her aunts),
Maria Michałowska, nee Rogowska (see schematic drawing), wife of a
physician, Dr Zygmunt Jakub Michałowski (see text below) – who was for
many years a County Health Officer-physician in Radzyń. Their daughter
Janina was wife of Dr Eugeniusz Wiszniewski (see text below) who was for
a great many years a Physician-in-Chief in the City Hospital in Siedlce.
He was also an indpendance fighter before and during World War One (he
died in 1931). Janina and Eugeniusz had a son Jerzy Wiszniewski, born in
1908 in Siedlce. Later, he became a famous biologist and research worker
earning the titles of Doctor and Docent. He was a second lieutenant in
the Army Sapper Reserves. During the Uprising, he was not able to reach
his military unit and joined the “Gustaw” Battalion. He was wounded
during the explosion of a “Tank-trap” (a remotely controlled explosive
transporter) as was also Basia Wajszczuk (0084) (see). He was treated at
the same hospital at the Kilinski street and perished during the same
bombing raid, as Basia. I am enclosing a schematic drawing, which shows
with greater precision their blood relationships than the verbal
information, along with some published information about the persons
mentioned above. (See polish version -
