 Podlasie Branch

Parishes of the Siedlce (Podlasie) Diocese

(Former and current places of residence of the Wajszczuk Family)

Trzebieszow Parish -

The earliest information (dating back to the beginning of the 18th century - generations -III and -II) was obtained by Barbara Miszta from the review of the Parish records on site, in the Trzebieszow Parish.

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1870, missing: 1844 and 1869). Review of the records from this particular parish provided us with a major portion of the information which alowed connecting the previously detached branches of the Tree. One Jedrzej (Andrzej) Wajszczuk was discovered in the generation (-II) - he could have been the oldest son of Stanislaw (-III generation) from Trzebieszow - the sofar discovered  "initiator" of the Podlasie branch of the Family. Subsequent search in the Ulan Parish, (see below) allowed discovery of the descendants of Andrzej, who lived in the village of Rzymki and who, in turn gave origin to the Family branches living until present in Zakowola, (Kakolewnica parish), Okniny (Zbuczyn parish) and (most probably) in Domaszewnica and then in a town of Łuków.

Descendants of the next son of Stanislaw - Tomasz (-II) eventually also came to Łuków (and then migrated to the cities: Torun, Warsaw and Lublin, as well as to the nearby village of Misie).

We new already earlier that the next son of Stanislaw - Jozef (-II) lived in the not too distant Zarzec Łukowski. Now we were able to identify his descendants, who lived in Brzozowica. However, we were unable to trace the family in the next generations.

We still do not know anything about the next son of Stanislaw - Michal Stanislaw (-II).

(Similarily, we do not know anything about the Family members, who lived at one time in Trzebieszow IV).

Archives in Siedlce - (years reviewed: 1871 - 1905, missing: year 1873). Review provided rather extensive additional information regarding the families of Franciszek Wajszczuk (0516) from Trzebieszow III and Maciej Wajszczuk (0032) from Trzebieszow I.

(Only 3 marriage certificates were missing: Jan Wajszczuk (0022) - his second marriage to Anna Lukasiewicz (born in Krzymoszyce, wedding took place in the Miedzyrzec parish); Adam Wajszczuk (0027) - also his second marriage with Teofila Sowinska (born in ?, wedding in ?) and Franciszek Wajszczuk (0718) to Stanislawa Adamowicz (born in ?, wedding in ?) - the ceremonies most probably took place in the parishes of the brides.

Łuków Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1811 - 1860). The name Wajszczuk was not found. But we encountered a name Weszczuk, a name which was carried by a member of the "Piechota Wybraniecka", who originated from Trzebieszow towards the end of the 16th century (see -  https://www.wajszczuk.pl/english/informacje_historyczne.htm).

Archives in Siedlce - (years reviewed: 1870 - 1904, missing from both Archives were years 1861 - 1869). A record was found of a marriage in 1894 of Jan Wajszczuk (0683) born in Zyty, Ulan parish to Jozefa Charytoniuk born in Domaszewnica and subsequently, the records of birth of their two children who were born in Domaszewnica: Rozalia - in 1896 and Stanislaw in 1898. This information suggests that Jan (0683) was the one, who initiated the Domaszewnica line of the Family

Ulan Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1812 - 1903). New information from this parish allowed to connect and expand the Family branches who at one time resided in Rzymki, Dminin and Okniny and later on (and at present) in AleksandrowŻakowola and Kąkolewnica (Kąkolewnica parish). Their descendants moved to the city of Łodż and to the regions of Silesia and of Mazuria. To this branch belongs also a family, who at present lives in Domaszewnica (see below the findings of a review of records in the Siedlce Archives*).

In the Ulan parish, we also encountered several entries of persons, who undoubtedly belonged to the Wajszczuk Family, but were erroneously recorded under the name Waszczuk.

* In the Archives in Siedlce, while reviewing the books of the Łuków parish (see above), we found some entries which confirm the supposition that they indeed belong to this branch of the Family.

Wojcieszków Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1867). The name Wajszczuk was not found.

Archives in Siedlce - (years reviewed: 1875 - 1892, missing from both Archives were years 1868 - 1874). The name Wajszczuk was not found.

Kąkolewnica Parish –

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1903). Some information was found which suggested family ties between Jozef from Zarzec (see above - Trzebieszow Parish) and the Wajszczuk Family members who lived later in Olszewnica

A person named Szymon WAWRZUK was identified, who lived in Kąkolewnica early in the 19th century. There was no subsequent information regarding his family. The possibility cannot be ruled out that this was another son of Stanislaw with misspelled last name.

Archives in Siedlce - has no records from this parish.

Międzyrzec Podlaski Parish -

Archiwum w Lublinie - (lata 1810-1904). Na nazwisko Wajszczuk natrafiono tylko jeden raz (Sprawozdanie #25) - pod data 7.II.1884 był zarejestrowany ślub Jana Wajszczuka, lat 40, urodzonego w Trzebieszowie, s. Franciszka i Zuzanny z Okulinskich z Anna Lukasiewicz, lat 24, c. Wawrzyńca i Wiktorii, urodzona w Krzymoszycach, świadek - Adam Wajszczuk. (Nadal nie znaleźliśmy połączenia miedzy gałęzią rodziny zamieszkała w Krzymoszycach i głównym pniem Drzewa)!

(Frequent appearance of the name WASZCZUK was noted - see (1); see (2))

Archives in Siedlce - has no records from this parish.

Radzyń Podlaski Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1904). The name Wajszczuk was found only once (Report #27) - on February 4, 1892, a marriage of Andrzej Wajszczuk (0013), age 20, from Zakowola, son of Fabian and Konstancja nee Mazur, with Zofia Kuc, born in Siedlanow.

Zbuczyn Parish -

Archiwum w Siedlcach - (lata 1810-1905). Nie znaleziono nazwiska Wajszczuk.

ecords starting from the year 1906 can be found in the Zbuczyn Parish and in the Public Register Office in Zbuczyn, where they are computerized after 1952.

Akta od 1906 roku znajdują się w kancelarii parafialnej kościoła w Zbuczynie i w USC w Zbuczynie, gdzie dane są skomputeryzowane od 1952 roku.

Important informaton about a previously unknown to us Wajszczuk family (Florian 0556), who lived at the beginning of the XX century in Okniny and belonged to the Parish of Zbuczyn, was kindly provided to us by Mr. Krzysztof Sprzaczak from Minsk Mazowiecki. He found this information while reviewing the records in the office of the Zbuczyn Parish. He also found a record (and forwarded to us a copy of the certificate) of marriage, to second wife, of Aleksander Wajszczuk (0659) from Krzymoszyce.

 Note:

The Archive in Lublin does not have any Public Register records from the Parishes in: Gąsiory, Zbuczyn, Radomyśl, Krzewica i Zofibór.

The Archive in Siedlce does not have any Public Register records from the Parishes in: Ulan, Kąkolewnica, Międzyrzec Podlaski i Radzyn Podlaski.

In summary, based on the above Archive search, we were able to connect to the main trunk of the Tree, the majority of branches of the Podlasie branch of the Family.

As of its termination (August 11, 2006), still not connected remain the following families: a/ living in Łazow at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and 2/ living at present in Krzymoszyce.

 Zamosc Branch

Parishes of the former Diocese of Zamość

Nielisz Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1768 - 1875, years missing: 1814 - 1817). Towards the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century, belonged here temporarily a Wajszczuk family, who originally came from "Wysokie-Sitaniec". They lived at that time in Wolka Nieliska (see). Subsequently, around the middle of the 19th century, they probably settled in Sulow and in its vicinity. At that time (as well as at present) they belonged (and still belong) to the Szczebrzeszyn Parish.

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1876 - 1897). The name Wajszczuk was not found.

Nieledew Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1831 - 1874, a greek-catholic parish, years missing (death records): 1831 - 1862). A few entries of the name Wayszczuk or similar (see) were found around the middle of the 19th century. (The subsequent review will also include the Trzeszczany Parish, since it has been discovered that later on the roman-catholics transferred to the Trzeszczany Parish after the Nieledew Parish was converted by the Russian occupying authorities into a russian-orthodox parish - see below).

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1875 - 1894, at that time an orthodox parish). The name Wajszczuk was not found. Names Waszczuk and Wajczuk were found in Nieledew and names Waszczuk, Wajczuk and Wojczuk were encountered in the village of Zadebce.

Archives in Lublin - repeated review - (years reviewed: 1810 -1874, no books were missing this time).

It was decided to repeat the review in the Lublin Archives, since the name Wajszczuk was not found during the continuation of review of the subsequent books from this parish in the Archives in Zamosc, nor was it found in the Trzeszczany parish (years reviewed: 1810-1867), where the Roman-Catholics from this area
belonged. This time no name Wajszczuk (Wayszczuk) was found - it is assumed that the name, which was  encountered during the first review and interpreted to be Pawel Wayszczuk - was misread. The correct reading (spelling) of the recorded name should be "Pawel WOJCZUK". The birth certificate of this Pawel Wojczuk coud not be found - this fact also suggests that he arrived to Nieledew from a different location (parish).

The following names were encountered: Walczuk - in Podhorce and Obrowiec, Waszczuk - in Zadebce, Woyczuk and Wojczuk - in Nieledew and Chyzowice and Woyciuk and Wojciuk - in Zadebce.

Wielącza Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1722 - 1875, years missing: 1813 - 1815 and 1817 - 1827). Records for the village of Wysokie are only available from the year 1784. At that time, there were already Wajszczuks living in Wysokie (see). The name continues appearing in this parish until about the middle of the 19th century - later on the same family appears in the records of the Sitaniec parish.

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1876 - 1905). Only one pertinent entry was found under the date of January 9, 1877 - a marriage record of Maciej Wajszczuk (0267) and Katarzyna Lewczukowa.

Sitaniec Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1777 - 1861, years missing: 1786 - 1809). Villages of Sitaniec and Wysokie ("Family Nests") belong at present to this parish. As mentioned above, some Wajszczuks from "Sitaniec-Wysokie" were registered here already towards the end of the 18th century (see). Descendants of one of the members of this family line subsequently settled in Sulow. A Waszczuk family also belonged at the same time to the same parish (see). It appeared that they maintaned a rather close relationship with the known Wajszczuk family - perhaps they were related but carried a misspelled name? Starting from about the 3rd decade of the 19th century, the Wajszczuks living in Wysokie were registered (belonged) to the Sitaniec Parish - as well as members of the "new" Sitaniec line (seeinitiated by Walenty (0451), who was born in Wysokie.

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1872 - 1905, missing from both Archives were years 1862 - 1871). Multiple entries were found concerning the families of Maciej (0267) and Jan (0299) as well as of the families related to them - Hass, Chrzan, Parasiewicz, Bdziuch and Łój.

Szczebrzeszyn Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1650 - 1874, year missing: 1827). "Similar names" appear very early in these records (see), but the recordings of the names and persons, which could be accepted with complete certainty as members of the Wajszczuk Family, appear much later. These are the Wajszczuks from Wolka Nieliska and later from Sulow and vicinity. They appear in this parish in the first half of the 19th century (see) - some of their descendants still belong there.

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1875 - 1905). Considerable amount of information was found, which allowed to expand the family branch of Jakob (1236) Wajszczuk from Sulow. Some misspelings of the last name were also found among the members of this family, among others a variant WALSZCZUK - this was mentioned to us during our visit in Sulow (see).

Stary Zamość Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1602 - 1875, many volumes/years were missing). Only one entry with a name Wajszczuk was found - on January 15, 1865, a wedding of Mikolaj Wajszczuk (1323) from Wysokie, member of the Sitaniec Parish with Anna Zderkiewiczowna from Stary Zamosc. Besides, several "similar names" and their variants were noted (see).

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1876 - 1905). The name Wajszczuk was not found. "Similar names" were seen - Wawszczak in Wirkowice and Wawszczuk in Krasne. Other names also appearing in this parish were: Wojtas, Wawryczak, Waszak, Wawryszko.

Grabowiec Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1875, years missing: 1812 - 1814). The name Wajszczuk was not found. "Similar names" were seen - (see).

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1876 - 1905). The name Wajszczuk was not found. The name Waszczuk was present.

Hrubieszow Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1762 - 1808, records of the Bishop's Curia). The name Wajszczuk was not found. "Similar names" were encoutered (see).

Archives in  Zamość - no such records exist there.

Horyszow Polski Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1865, a greek-catholic parish, missing (death records): year 1859). The name Wajszczuk was not found. "Similar names" were encountered (see).

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1879 - 1904, at that time - an orthodox parish; missing from both Archives were years 1866 - 1878). The name Wajszczuk was not found. A name Walczuk was encountered.

Trzeszczany Parish -

Archives in Lublin - (years reviewed: 1810 - 1867, missing - year 1845). The name Wajszczuk was not found. "Similar names" were encountered (see). Our previous finding of a name Wayszczuk(?) in Nieledew (a greek-catholic parish) around the middle of the 19th century (see above under the Nieledew Parish) remains to be further investigated.

Archives in  Zamość - (years reviewed: 1875 - 1904, missing from both Archives were years 1868 - 1874). The name Wajszczuk was not found.
